Discussion questions pg.93

1.
1- portable devices
  • Pros: You can take personal info with you anywhere to print, access, share and upload to the net, etc. from other computers.
  • Cons: These portable devices are easily lost and stolen, thus your work can be used by others under their names. Because while using portable devises we often uses public computers or computers that often dont belong to us, others can easily spy on you work or info without permission.
2- Personal Laptop:
  • Pros: It can be taken with you anywhere. You can add, delete edit, etc, at your own free will. because a laptop is large, you tend not to forget or lose something as expensive or valuable compared to a mere usb drive.
  • Cons: It can break, its too bulky to carry around everywhere. some people might try to steal it. If it breaks there is no way to return back your lost memory.
2. I think personal info would be more secure on a flash memory, rather than on the net. Today their are all sorts of ways to hack on the internet and ways to overcome even secured websites. While having flash memory info althoough there is a high risk of loss, it reall y is no different from our credit cars, or kaiser cards, our social security cars, and etc. These cards are really just another type of flash memory.

Biometrics questions

1-he study of measurable biological characteristics. Biometrics is used in computer security to identify individuals by measurable physical characteristics. Biometric identification schemes may use facial characteristics, fingerprints, hand geometry, retina analysis, iris analysis, signatures, vein patterns, and voice analysis. Biometrics will likely become more important in the future to prevent identity theft.

2-Areas of iMPACT
  1. Business: For large corparations, biometrics can keep their data safe, and can help identify suspects if their is ever a theft in the company.
  2. Education: Biometrics serves as a great tool in teaching new generations about the feild of detective investigations.
  3. Health: Many Health institutions store rare chemicals or treatments, and retina scanners can be needed
  4. Science and environment: Your natural data can differentiate you from one individual to another
  5. Government: governemnts can track you down bassed on your biometrics data
3- Retina scanner: This scans the retina in ones eye and checks it with the programmed retina to allow access to lab, a university, etc.

4-approves: large buisnesses, govenrment, banks,
Disapproves: citizens who dont want to be tracked at all times, and others who dont know much about biometrics.
5-privacy:people dont want to be tracked at all times, security: people can access others personal info, with tecnology progressing in the near future their could be people who will be able to find a way to go around biometrics.
6-
  1. its easy for governemnt to track dangerous criminals
  2. it allows for a safer environment, at banks, labs, and the world
  3. it allows for a faster way to find personal info.

1- Input:keyboard-you type,mouse-you can click with,bar code readers-scans bar codes on products,printers-print saved documents
out-put: The monitor- projects what in the desktop, projector-enlarges and projects what is a computer,scanner-scans,speaker-projects sound
  • A bar code scanner scan the items and allows it to be viewd on the clerks screen, then its then allowed to be printed as a receipt, which helps both the clerk and the buyer to have a secure reliable transaction.
  • A credit card machine, which allows transaction to occur directly without the use of cash, which makes safe and secure transaction possible.
  • 1- a touch pad: This is an excellent alternative because it allows the user to intract with the computer directly, and it senses the heat source from the users hands. 2-This responds to the persons heat source on the monitor. This allows more interactivity than the touch pad, because you actually touch what you want making it easier and more pleasant for the user. 3- Track balls are more for think pads, bot they allow more room for hands are for the user

Criterion G

For my project, i want to help Al-Arqam school students to appreciate art, in a new way. Instead of looking at Art as a class to draw or pain, they can look at it as a competitive course in which they strive to have their artwork presented to the whole school.
I find the subject of Art extremely appealing, and i see that it is slowly disappearing because of the lack of enthusiasm and competitiveness. I have decided to create a magazine, or brochure in which the top ten art work are shown, with a summary of what that art work means and what type of mood it creates when others view it. This will definetley have many students enthusiastic about creating something magnificent enough to be printed, and distributed.
For many students Art isn't hard, but its boring, and there is no fun to it. With this project, students will change the view of many who have given up on competing in class, or draw and paint to pass, not for pleasure. When they see how fantastic art is they will change and will thus create an easier setting for many art teachers to come to work with.

4- Technology poses great threat on them as blue collar workers, and thus affects society
6-Maybe, but actually computers have given children a better more diverse and open help and resources so that they may see others options and formulate their own ideas and opinions out of them. Calculators are the same. They do help when you have complicated problems that would waste time , but they also pose the threat of being used too often that even simple problems are relied on the calculator.

11- In the past our form of tec was the computer, we learned how to type and learned how to use photoshop, etc. And i was not really good with stuff like that.
12-I think they could. If you have family abroad, and they could stregnthen community bonds, but they severely damage household settings. When each person is centered around his computer or her computer kids become attached more to their computers rather than their parents and familyhood.
13-I think more creative for us, but less creative for them. People will be lazy. Each will live a luxiorious life of no work and depend more on the computer. For us it may sound beutiful, but in reality it is a life of laziness

HW

3- I think it is actually a pretty godd idea, but it also depends on the websites they ristrict, for example saudi arabia ristricts You tube. I thinl that this is just absolutely ridiculeous. Even though there might be a rise of +18 content there are also many other excellent video varying from all kinds of different things. Going back to the chinese thing again it depends on the website, and yes i think it is very effective.

Hw:

The way governement ristricts access to thr internet is probably through the ip addresses. They probably shut down communication with servers that connect to the websites that they dont want. (guess)

What is Boolean logic

A boolean logic is a system of symbolic logic devised by George Boole; used in computers
Logic derived from Boolean algebra. Boolean logic is the basis of modern digital computing, in which the opening and closing of electronic switches represent the truth values 1 (true) and 0 (false) and the functions AND, OR, and NOT..

It is extremely easy to use the rss, function. Because it uses pull tecnology it must be requested, by the person.

“Pull” Technology allows you to become an integral part of your customers daily lives by enforcing your brands and services directly to them every day. Key messages and personalised information that they have requested, and critical information can be delivered to their desktop, screen saver, any wireless device, mail account and more. “Push” amplifies and extends your current Web presence while providing new and valuable services. Your customer is directed back to your Web site for more in-depth information. This technology eliminates the need to wait for customers to visit your site, instead, allowing an organisation to take their business to their customer base.

An RSS (most commonly translated as "Really Simple Syndication" but sometimes "Rich Site Summary") is a family of web feed formats used to publish frequently updated works—such as blog entries, news headlines, audio, and video—in a standardized format An RSS document (which is called a "feed", "web feed", or "channel") includes full or summarized text.

OCT/!/2009 Assignment

  1. (a) There are some internet providers that limit your internet downloads, or how many websites and videos you watch in a month, and others provide you with specific speeds. The more you pay the more you have a faster internet experience. This definitely limit s the amount of things that you can do on the net. A broadband connection is different than a dial-up connection different from a wifi connection. The speed changes the experience you have on the net, and the type of computer you have serves a great deal to.
  2. (b)
  • Speed:
  • - Education:
  • RELIABILITY: The speed of the internet is too slow because so many computers are accessing the internet from the same place
  • PEOPLE AND MACHINES: The interaction between the students and the computers to do their class work print off email, send and receive, etc.
  • -Health:
  • People and machines: The interaction between the doctor and his patients throught the net, or emails between doctors and other doctors to find a cure for a special disease, etc

  1. Because the internet is a worldwide thing, many countries have their own domain names. Each of those countries have lots and lots of websites posted under them. The interenewt is growing too fast to handle and keep track of, its decentralized with no center to keep tracl of users activity on a network, and it doesn't have boundaries.
  2. TCP/IP is basically the language of the internet. IP means "Internet Protocol". The Internet is defined as the global network that runs over the internet protocol.TCP/IP is important for the success of the internet. TCP builds on the connectionless IP packet transport, to provide a reliable byte stream end to end over the internet.

Summary of Web Server

Every web server has a unique address so that other computers connected to the internet know where to find it on the vast network. The IP (Internet protocal) address looks something like this: 69.93.141.146.

HOW IT WORKS:
  1. Your web browser first needs to know which IP address the website "www.quackit.com" resolves to. If it doesn't already have this information stored in it's cache, it requests the information from one or more DNS servers (via the internet). The DNS server tells the browser which IP address the website is located at. Note that the IP address was assigned when the website was first created on the web server.
  2. Now that the web browser knows which IP address the website is located at, it can request the full URL from the web server.
  3. The web server responds by sending back the requested page. If the page doesn't exist (or another error occurs), it will send back the appropriate error message.
  4. Your web browser receives the page and renders it as required.

When referring to web browsers and web servers in this manner, we usually refer to them as a client (web browser) and a server (web server).

This article was about desreasing the amount of papers that go home, or are being sent vai mail to a house hold. This COsts almost 12000$ from the school. Schools are now adapting the use of the internet to decrease the amount of money being spent. Parents are also likeing the idea, and are begening to coaperate with the schools on this issue. The main issue now is the amount of money schools spend while its all being wasted. the PTA's are stepping up to help te school, which is a strats to help our children grow. Also the biggest issue of all is the swine flew and its spread in schools, and how it must be stopped from spreading into our homes through our childrenTHATS WHAT THE ARTICLE WAS ABOUT

Tec Reflect

1-Charles Babbage and Augusta Ada King, the countless of Lovelace thought of a mechanical computer that could do tasks for them.

The Automobile today is a big part of our lives, they take us to farther places and have made the world closer to each other. However automobiles are somewhat a cause of pollution. Pollution is a big thing in this century because of the different things that are happening to different places around the world. The ice is melting and more of the harmful rays of the sun are reaching us. Plus the Gasoline is running out. The ozone layer is isn't blocking harmful rays, and etc. And cars just add to the chaos.

The Television is also a big thing, everyone has a TV. Although it is really not a necessity in our lives, it helps us watch our favorite shows, learn new things and its a big part of the fun in our lives. However sometimes it causes laziness and corrupts the individual when he really cant take care of his basic needs.

5 Notes

  1. Charles Babbage and Augusta Ada King, the countless of Lovelace, imagined the construction of mechanical computers that would automatically and reliably perform these tasks. But it took about 125 years for engineers to turn this vision into reality.
  2. In 1939 a young German named Konrad Zuse completed the ZI, the first programmable, general-purpose digital computer.
  3. In 1993 Iowa stae university professor John Atanasoff and graduate student clifford Berry created the Atanasoff- Berry computer ABC, when he apptoached the international buisness machines, he was told IBM would never be interested in an eletronic machine.
  4. The transitor was invented in 1948 as a substitute for the vaccume tube, and transistors first appeared in computers eight years later...
  5. integrated circuits rapidly replaced transitorsfor the same reasons that trasitors superseded vacume tubes.

This Article just basically talks about texting while driving, and how the Governors Highway Safety Association is acting to ban it. They just give stats to show the risks of texting while driving, and the affect that it can have on society. There is a five second delay when you text, and in five seconds you can pass a whole football feild by car on a highway, which can cause accedents. They say this new law which has not come out yet will decrease car accedent by a lot, and will garantee a new type of safety to the drivers community.

Tec Reflect

Computers are really a miracle. And Tecnology is also a miracle, however tecnology changes, thus changing our lives. But focusing on computers. They are probably a neccessaty in our lives. We research, we type, we surf, and we enjoy ourselves. It is a combination of everything in one. We can access our banks, and pay bills, and do so much. To me there are still mysteries to be solved in it. We all know how to use the computer, but do we know how everything is proccessed through it. How does the emaling work, we know something is being transfered from here to there, but how. These are all mysteries of the computer. There is also a negative side to computers: "Hacking". even though there is protection but there is all kinds of new tecnology that can strip away privacy, even in ones own home. We recently found out that there is a way to listen to conversations at home usiong the cell phone. These are all negativities that the tecnology supplies us, including the good that it gives.

THE SMART BORD

Section 1: The smart board is a machine used at schools, or buisnises. It works as a projector and a touchscreen. The smat board solves the problem with buying new boards with markers, and running around the school to find a projector.

Section 2:
  • Equal Access: The smart board is for everyone, the school dos not descriminate against thje users of the smart board. You can be Asian or African, they are all welcome to the pleasure of using the Smart Board
  • People and Machine: There is also an interaction between the smart board and human beings, first since we are its creators, and second we are the ones who actually touch it, to write stuff on it.

Section 3:

HEALTH: if you back hurts, you can use the smart board to move around freeley so the back pain can go away, instead of standing all day.

1-Amazon has many policies for its website, because it sells things, they have policies like "return policies", and policies for using this website

2- Wiki educator has policies regarding the education that is placed bu the poster. Because anyone can post information. The information could be misleading or damaging of other people. people could also edit, each other people write which might cause some problems.

3- The motley fool is a website for money related things like finance, and investments, so their policies have to do with mostly privacy, and the security of their customers.

4-Squidoo, is a website for photo sharing. one of their policies for inline photsharing, is bad or inappropriate images.

People and Machine

In the Death Star again, the interaction between man is really obvious. Man controls the machine, and commands it to do its bidding. Man always creates machines, no matter how simple, to make jobs easier.Take the Death Star again, when man destroyed the whole planet, they could have sent troops, and attacked the planet from the inside, which would have taken forever, plus we don't know w heather the inhabitants are strong combatants or not, so they could win, HOWEVER! With one shot from the Death star, everything was initiated. It didn't matter whether or not the citizens of the planet were strong or not, Mans machine destroyed man with a single shot.

1st Response

We interact with the computer daily in our daily life, from doing Hmw, to watching videos, and movies. To playing games, and downloading. The most important interaction of them all IS ACTUALLY THE RESEARCH WHICH WE DO DAILY FOR HMW, and daily personal use.Either we print or type, the computer is now an essential part and componenet of our daily life, and of this century.
